Software Competencies

Ninja: Master of the domain, but a ninja knows further improvement is always possible. Thorough understanding of best practices, able to write code/scripts from scratch with minimal references, comprehensive knowledge of tools and techniques, exceptional grasp of application tools and methods
Cowboy: Never afraid to jump in and take command, using their vast know-how to easily adapt to unfamiliar situations - if there are any. Basic understanding of best practices, create and manipulate code/plugins at will, occasional use of references
Pirate: Capable of getting the job done through brute force and lots of snearing - doesn't always know why something works... probably voodoo. Used sparingly, comfortable working with code, manipulate plugins and 3rd party code to adapt as necessary, frequent use of reference material, competent with previous versions but still learning new features of latest release
Zombie: Will beat and claw their way en masse to devour the subject. Not commonly used, limited exposure to language or not used recently, familiar but requires access to reference material
